We’re bringing back our annual Vision Walk, so it’s time to dust off those walking boots and enjoy the beautiful scenic routes around Macclesfield.
As an independent charity that relies entirely on funding, events like this play a big part in helping us continue our work supporting people with sight loss. Through advice, information, training and equipment demonstrations, we help visually impaired people and their families live fulfilling lives at home, at work and in the community.
Vision Walk isn’t just about fundraising. It’s about coming together, getting outdoors and supporting a local charity while raising awareness of the challenges people face when living with a visual impairment.
Alan Chappell, Charity Manager at East Cheshire Eye Society, said:
“This will be our second sponsored walk and we hope it will raise much needed funds for the Eye Society, but also, importantly, raise awareness of both the work we do to support people locally and also the challenges that people face when living with a visual impairment.
We’d love to get support from local businesses and organisations who want to support their local community through corporate social responsibility.
The walk is open to people with a visual impairment (we’ll have sighted guides available to help) and fully sighted people, whether you’re already connected to the charity or not.
We hope the walk will be seen as a fun, informative and healthy way to support a local charity, and we hope you’ll be able to join us or sponsor us to make it a success.”
Join us for Vision Walk 2026
This year’s walk takes place on Saturday 9 May.
Participants will set off from our Resource Centre between 10:00–10:30am and follow a scenic route around Macclesfield.
The full route is 10K, but if you prefer a shorter challenge, you can complete 5K by finishing at the halfway point. It’s a relaxed, friendly event open to all ages and abilities.
We’ve also planned a few extra activities along the way, making it a great day out for families, friends and colleagues.
