The COVID-19 restrictions have had an impact for everyone. At East Cheshire Eye Society, we have had to make adjustments. Sadly, our social groups and fundraising events have been paused due to lockdown and social distancing. This is a challenging time for our members as our social groups are very popular and many of our members are missing taking part in activities and meeting up with friends.

Helping prevent loneliness through phone calls

As many people affected by sight loss experience loneliness, we wanted to make sure that our members still had the opportunity to keep in contact. Therefore, our team at East Cheshire Eye Society has been scheduling individual and group phone calls with our members during this period to offer our support, company and to make sure that they are OK.

Keeping our office operational

Whilst we had to temporarily close our resource centre in Macclesfield in the initial stages of lockdown, the recent easing of restrictions has allowed us to re-open by appointment only. Our Volunteers and Services Coordinator, Helen is in the office to accept phone calls on 01625 422602. If Helen is unable to answer, please leave your name and telephone number or email info@eastcheshireeyesociety.org.uk. If you would like more information on East Cheshire Eye Society’s services, equipment and resources, please contact Helen.

If you are able to support

This is a difficult time for East Cheshire Eye Society as we are an independent charity that largely relies on fundraising to support people affected by sight loss in the East Cheshire area. Unfortunately, our fundraising activities have been paused and the crisis has had a severe effect on us financially. If you are able to help us with a donation it would be greatly appreciated. Please donate via our Local Giving page: https://localgiving.org/charity/eyesociety/
